Keyword research is an essential part of any successful SEO strategy. And while it is important, it can often be confusing and overwhelming. Today we’ve given you three quick tips to understanding keyword research, and how to get ahead of the game.
First, let’s break down what keyword research is – it is the process of discovering words and phrases that people use in search engines (like Google), and determining which of these matter most for your website.
Quick Tip Number One: Create a list of relevant keywords to your business. This list should include at least 7-10 key terms. Think like a buyer/ customer, what would you search in order to find your business? Once you’ve created this list, take each term and break it down even further. Example: women’s shoes (break this down into keywords) > women’s boots, women’s heels, women’s footwear, etc.. You don’t need to use all the terms you come up with, but it’s important to get an understanding of what keywords are relevant to your business. And what buyers might be searching.

Quick Tip Number Two: in your keyword research include singular words, but also include key phrases. People often do searches including more than one word. Using more words gives the search query more content and hopefully allows the person searching more relevant results (including your business).
Quick Tip Number Three: You want your sources to have authority. After you’ve discovered the correct keywords to reach your targeted audience. You’ll want the website pages you’re sending them to, to be enriched with helpful information and content that matches your search terms. The more authority your page has the more likely you are to appear higher in search results.
